Tomato strings
11 July 2023 08:50 amI have been rigging up tomato-strings for the benefit of the towel-tomatoes (thus covering my hands with yellow -- I'd forgotten tomatoes did that!), since they are now so heavy with fruit that their former habit of sprawling all over one another and neighbouring plants, specifically the woody sage-bush, is not sufficient to support them; I'm worried that they may actually uproot themselves or their stems may snap!
Ironically the one plant I haven't needed to support is the Roma tomato, since it has far fewer fruits on it. (It now has three trusses of small but distinctive tomatoes, and I have pinched out the leading shoot to try to stop it putting on any more height or growing more fruit; we'll let it concentrate on these.)
The Demon Red chilli finally managed to outgrow its initial yoghurt-pot, and I have repotted it into a larger pot using compost retrieved from the various pots I have been emptying, including the gone-to-seed pak choi, from which I was able to harvest a little seed, but not nearly as much as I had been expecting (an awful lot of those seed pods turned out to be empty, and some of them were hosting caterpillars!)
I noticed a typo (full stop in place of comma) in the middle of Ch10 of Hertha, which led me to the discovery that AO3 is apparently down, and judging by the comments online has been down for some time... https://piunikaweb.com/2023/07/11/no-archive-of-our-own-ao3-is-not-shutting-down/
