The single Demon Red chilli is now four inches high and bushy -- pretty much as per this time last year, except that I have spotted the first flower bud on its tip already.
Interestingly the greenish dark-leaf chilli, although less well developed than the Demon Red (planted on 2nd April as opposed to 11 March), has grown larger than the pure dark-leaved one, presumably because it can photosynthesise better!
The pak choi, thyme and basil have all been suffering from caterpillar attack, and the kitchen windowsill plant is suffering so badly from aphids or flies that I have put it outside into the sphere of the wind and predators for a 'holiday'. The fresh sowing of coriander has germinated en masse and badly needs thinning out -- I don't think the poppies are doing anything, though. I tried a second batch from long-seed poppies that were definitely orange, brought back from rehearsal in my handkerchief...
