First of the daisies, last of the marigolds

The Swan River daisies finally came out this week, but every single one of them is blue -- even the one that grew from seed apparently spilled over from the compartment into which I had emptied the last of the pink seed! Whether we shall get any seed for next year with the flowers opening so late I don't know.

Meanwhile the marigolds have almost all finished and died back for the year, although a couple of small self-sown plants from the earliest batch of seed-heads have not only grown to several inches high but also started to develop flower-buds -- we may yet get a second generation of marigolds within a single growing season.

The chillies are covered in flowers and setting a good deal of fruit, but no sign of that ripening as yet. On the other hand the tomatoes are ripening the last of their fruit, with the upper trusses of the Roma tomatoes starting to turn a respectable red.

I have a strong suspicion that I actually paid my £90 choir fees *twice* last term; once in cash at the beginning of term, and a second time by card a couple of months later, when the computer system showed that I hadn't paid yet! At any rate, there is a mysterious extra hundred-pound withdrawal which took place in the first week of term, and nothing in my accounts to show where the money went before I needed to withdraw another twenty pounds for the next week's living expenses....

However since I didn't get a written receipt I can't prove it (and didn't question the subsequent request for payment, having completely forgotten whether I had paid or not!) The suspicion just came to me when I found myself contemplating withdrawing a round hundred pounds before the start of this term's rehearsals with precisely the same motive, and that missing money has been puzzling me for some time -- at the time I clearly withdrew it with a specific purpose in mind, but I have no record of any workmen or similar at that period!

Ouch. I always try to pay y card, for that reason, becaure I can never remember if I've paid.

And I try and get the sword dance team to pay by bank transfer, because it makes my life as treasurer so much easier when I can see who each payment is from

Well, I've had a lot of freebies over the years as they know I don't have a lot of income -- I didn't pay for my last set of new uniform, or contribute towards group transport -- so I reckon it's probably fair enough, all things considered.
