Bungee fix

Attached bungee cord from outside of bathroom door to neighbouring bookcase to keep it shut (a somewhat nominal process, since there's a large triangular gap at the top of the top anyway where it no longer fits the frame).
Turned central heating down.

Stil struggling with Plot Point Fifteen....

I can slog through to the end of the chapter, but whether it will be any *good* is another matter. There are isolated turns of phrase when I think it's going well, but I'm sceptical about the pacing and practical ramifications of the whole thing-- who learns what and when, and how they can credibly be kept from learning it. Last time I ended up choloroforming Gustave just so that Raoul and Mr Y could talk about things the boy wasn't supposed to know; that worked out well in the end, but I'm not so convinced by this one.
(Also, I haven't actually managed to get Erik's cry of how he killed his Christine into the dialogue!)

Where did you get the bungee cord?

They are used for strapping down luggage onto a bicycle or motorbike back carrier, or for attaching it to a suitcase trolley (back in the days after the demise of porters, and before the construction of suitcases with built-in obsolescence, e.g. trundle-wheels and extending handles which always break long before the rest of the case is worn out). It's just an elastic cord with a hook on either end.
