Russian for Beginners, 1977 -- this is about the level where I can actually understand every word (almost) that they are saying :-p
(Except the numbers -- I never could keep the difference between, say, fifteen and fifty straight.)

Though I can't help feeling that being landed with an unexpected kitten brought home from school (especially when you already have a dog in the flat) might be a mixed blessing so far as the parents are concerned...

Sadly I completely missed the point of Episode 4 ("At the Post Office"), since it revolves around the dispatch of a single precious orange grown at home on the windowsill, and neither 'windowsill' nor (more surprisingly) 'orange' were in my vocabulary!

(Orange" = "Apel'sin" -- obviously taken from the German Apfelsine, which I do very vaguely recognise... the problem is that, unlike the previous episode, the things being talked about are not actually *visible* on screen, so I had no idea what it was that had taken ten years to achieve!)
