The flowers on the second 'official' tray of mesembryanthemums (which for some reason took *far* longer to come to maturity than the first tray; I think when I split them I probably put all the small ones into the smaller tray) are coming out white, which is a relief, after all the plants in the first tray turned out to be the same pink, and so did the self-seeded ones! So we haven't lost all the genetic diversity after all; I don't know if the plants always come out the same colour as their progenitors, but since all the flowers on the same plant come out the same colour it seems quite probable. I need to remember to try to get seed from as many different mesembryanthemums as possible, and not just the largest and ripest seed-pods...

The 'kitchen windowsill plant' is putting out a second flush of flower-buds, after setting seed and looking pretty much used up. The towel-tomatoes, on the other hand, have ripened most of their fruit and are definitely dying back.

The Demon Red chilli is currently absolutely covered in flowers, and has some pretty large fruits on it (they seem bigger than the ones I remember from last year, but this may be simply because the latter have shrunk when dried!)

Hmm, looking at that photo, maybe the proportions are about the same -- I was just slightly worried they might have cross-bred with the big ones after all :-p

The dark-leaf chilli has a few more purple flowers on it, but is putting on a lot of large leaves, and it looks as if the plant is going to grow bigger than the Demon Red -- so far as I remember the progenitor was about knee-height, but it was in a much larger pot...
