After managing a second flush of mesembryanthemums -- another three late-germinating seedlings -- by bringing the pot inside, I had progressed to putting them back outside in daytime to try to give them enough sunlight. I came back at nine pm yesterday, went out to bring them in for the night, and discovered that they had all flopped again, presumably with the drop in temperature. The single-seed-leaf survivor, which had been showing signs of possibly putting out a pair of true leaves, has simply disappeared altogether (maybe the flop was due to being walked over by a slug instead?) I have no more seed, so if these die then that's it.

Yesterday afternoon I'd progressed to the stage of potting up my three chrysanthemum seedlings from their seedling-tray compartment, as they had started to plump up quite nicely. I brought the freshly-transplanted seedlings in for the night, even though they had originally germinated outdoors. This morning, when picking up one of the pots to take it back out again, I caught the lip against something and dropped the whole lot... upside-down. The still-loose compost went everywhere and the two seedlings in the pot ended up on the bottom.

I've scraped the whole lot back up again, but goodness knows if they will survive. That leaves me with one chrysanthemum, the least vigorous of the bunch. I have, however, planted some more seed for those, so it only sets me back a month or so...
