Seed record
22 March 2024 11:43 amPlanted rudbeckia (the last of the now pretty elderly commercial seed, not my bag of saved seed from last year) and Roma tomato. Germination among the towel-tomatoes remains very low; I currently still have only one healthy seedling (which now really needs planting out -- I can't wait for the others much longer!), and I think that the one with 'damaged' leaves is actually a California poppy... I do have what looks like multiple chilli seedlings coming up, though, although they are still very slow.
It is just not warm enough; tomatoes apparently need a temperature of 70F, and my indoors isn't that hot at this time of year, even in the kitchen!
I have five ragged marigold seedlings out of the dozen or so that I planted (of course they have come up with multiples in some seed compartments and others completely barren!) and at least one beetroot seed -- not the one that germinated in the net back last October, nor the ones that subsequently looked as if they might be coming up during the winter, all of which died at some point, but a much later one. There may be two more, as well; those seedlings are not nearly so red, so it is hard to be sure whether they are actually beets or not...
