I finally got round to buying a new ink bottle; I don't know how long they last (a cursory glance back through my blog doesn't record when I got the last one), but I'm guessing about a year under normal usage. I haven't been writing that much this year owing to extreme slow progress on Arctic Raoul (whose Plot Point 9 rewrite is not going well, but is going again after a fashion).
At the very least they save generating an awful lot of plastic waste from those little plastic ink cartridges, although from that point of view the 'dry' ink in ballpoint pens, being far more concentrated, is a lot less wasteful.
I was privy to a conversation today in which the various participants were busy congratulating themselves on having voted Green in the recent European elections (and talking about Nigel Farage forming a government, which is equally irrelevant; the election results were a protest vote, pure and simple, as they always are given the remoteness and obscurity of an MEP). And then in the next breath they went on to discussing the various countries to which they had jetted off over half-term, and why fear of flying was objectively foolish; it hadn't even occurred to them that there might be more to voting 'Green' than the 'I want a Second Referendum and Get It Right This Time' party...
