Oops. I forgot that Raoul's nostalgic associations with the "Little Lotte" verse are likely to have shifted considerably after the events of the musical -- however fondly he remembers the actual picnics in the attic, etc :-( Fortunately that section took place as the precursor to a shift into protective mode anyway, so it's easy enough to shade it in a darker direction...

Still not finished, though I must be very near the end now; I've put the Countess in. Maybe another page? I should finish before the end of the notebook, anyway, although I certainly shan't get the 'family' fic in as well, as I had originally fondly imagined.

I'm currently dithering a bit about how to present the story for FFnet, since the beginning was fairly deliberately written as a 'teaser' where it's not made explicit whom Christine is with. A bit of a silly game, really, since I never had any intention of concealing her husband's identity for the entire story, but it becomes entirely pointless if I then label the fanfic upfront as "C/R fluff" (as I had intended) or use the summary format of "In which Raoul gets hot water and Christine gets cold feet" (also seriously considered)

I'm certainly going to tag this as [Raoul,Christine] in the long run so that anyone looking for such stories can actually find it, but I'm distinctly tempted just to tag Christine on the initial upload and use a summary something like "After a week of marriage, Christine needs to make some decisions about her future. (Pure fluff, mainly.)"

(Can a thing even be meaningfully described as 'mainly' pure? Unfortunately despite my best intentions it appears my angst-writing tendencies have a habit of introducing themselves to create added dramatic tension...)

One of my anemones has fallen flat and seems to have snapped off from its root at ground level. Probably mechanical damage from drawing the curtain, I think, rather than rot or insect damage.
Oh well. I have four others and it wasn't doing anything interesting anyway -- just sitting there with its single leaf on a long stalk...

It might be worth considering what the readers' reactions are likely to be. "Haha, you got me, good one" is certainly a possible response, but so is anger at being "tricked" into reading a story one wouldn't otherwise have touched. I'm not very deep into Phantom fandom, but I get the impression it has a high proportion of readers who take their 'ships very seriously.
