Of course it's always *after* you have uploaded the chapter in three different places, one of them inaccessible, that you notice you used the term 'enlighten on [the matter]' twice in two different contexts in the space of the final paragraph... :-( "Apprise of" will do as a substitute, I think ("inform" isn't quite right, being too direct, and moreover we've had "form" in the preceding clause). "Advise of" would be less obscure, but I feel that unfortunately it risks getting read as Perrette actually offering advice on the matter rather than merely deigning-- or not-- to provide minimal information!

I had thought that it was possible simply to set a story as 'sequel to' an existing work on AO3, but apparently you have to set up an official titled 'series' with 'Previous work'/'Next work' links between them -- pretty much massive overkill for this, but I spent an hour or so in the small hours working out how to do it: https://archiveofourown.org/users/Igenlode/series
So the story now shows up as "Part 2 of 'Descendants'" rather than "sequel to 'The Sons of Éléonore'", which was what I'd originally intended. (It occurs to me with hindsight that I could probably have put it in simply as 'inspired by' my own earlier work, or put the link in AO3's Notes field, which allows HTML -- however, the set-up has all been done now!)

And after 24 hours or so, the result is a grand total of 4 views for "Chick or Child" plus seven (somewhat unexpectedly -- or maybe people actually felt that they ought to go and check out the earlier story first?) new hits on "The Sons of Éléonore". Although since the stats on FFnet are currently down altogether for all users it isn't possible to compare between sites :-p

Realistically, of course, I knew this wasn't going to be popular; it's a sequel to a story that is eight years old (even if, on AO3, it was only uploaded about 18 months ago!), it features Raoul, it isn't tagged as E/C, and it's a follow-up dealing with what happens to some extremely minor OCs in the original story, although that isn't immediately apparent since the first chapter is from Raoul's point of view... and I, like everyone else, automatically scroll on past stories that are labelled as spin-offs from someone else's pet AU, e.g. those epics that proceed to fill us in on the lives of Erik and Christine's OC children and neighbours in their new life in New York :-(

But since AO3 allows you to see other authors' stats, I get the dubious privilege of comparing it directly to other recent single chapters... an E/OC romance (By a Genuine Gypsy) uploaded today which already has 3 kudos and 15 hits, an E/C fluff-fic uploaded yesterday which has 11 kudos and 74 hits and another one which has 22 kudos and 136 hits from the day before and another with 27 kudos and 169 hits from the day before that... (all by the same author, who apparently coughs this stuff out on a daily basis :-O) The only one with similar stats is the almost unreadable self-insert (Ze had been asking everyone ze saw if they could help hir, but everyone just looked at the American twink and wondered what is this guy’s problem) -- although to be fair, you wouldn't *know* what hard work it was to read until you had already clicked to open it, so the poor performance is probably due to the summary describing it as "self insert... very self indulgent"!
My own summary isn't exactly going to attract casual readers either, though it came quite easily and I thought it was quite neat: Raoul has an encounter with Philippe's past, and Perrette faces the future.

I *knew* this was not going to be popular and I wrote it anyway, just as I always do. It would be nice to be popular, but if you're going to insist on being wilfully obscure then you can't expect it.

Meanwhile I have very nearly finished typing the second chapter (another few hundred words to go), which is considerably shorter.

NB my stats software is definitely broken, as none of the monthly views have worked since the start of this year, although all the months of 2022 still display as intended; that should make it a whole lot easier to debug than if the issue only affects the current month, or only affects January, or, worse, only affects January when there aren't any entries for later months in the year yet, which was what I had initially rather suspected in assuming that I would have to debug it before the end of the month... However, because I am generally only using the 'number of views since last reset' feature, I haven't had much motivation to do any debugging as yet, and haven't looked at it at all :-(
