Slugs!

Evidently I was wrong about the Great Slug War -- having brought the strawberry pot in overnight in case of frost, I found three slugs in it simply because I could literally hear them busy eating. There are probably more nestled in amongst the stiff stems of the crown that I didn't find... (although if they had been eating at that rate for long I doubt I'd have many strawberry leaves left).

[Edit: just went up to check a couple of hours later and another pea-sized one had emerged]
