igenlodeOne of my chillis was *finally* starting to show signs of turning red/orange, but it was also going squishy at the top, so I picked it. Another one turned out to have dropped off of its own accord (still bright green).
I shall have to find something to cook with them to find out how hot they are; come to think of it I soaked a bowl of beans last night. I was planning to make a lamb neck and bean stew, but I haven't actually defrosted my last slice of lamb yet, so a bean curry might be on the cards....
I have also successfully sacrificed a towel-tomato to provide next year's crop of seed, after my first attempt a few days ago turned out to be immature and decidedly lacking in seeds! (Not much of a sacrifice, as I got to eat the outside afterwards :-)
[Edit: yes, they are hot, although I might have to include the seeds as well when I'm cooking with them -- the flesh on its own doesn't seem to have all that much heat.]
