Seed record
27 March 2023 06:17 pmI sowed a square of the Roma tomato seed and a pot of mesembryanthemum seed (hard to believe that is actually ripe/viable, since it looks like dust -- and some of it undoubtedly *is* dust from the insides of the crushed seed pods!) to keep in my bathroom for the moment, since the sun has now got round far enough to warm that up in the mornings. I shall have to be very careful not to accidentally kick that tray when washing...
I think the marigolds I sowed are finally starting to come up (the two that have germinated are both in the same seed compartment -- typical!), but I have also rescued what I think is a couple of self-sown marigold seedlings from one of the other pots. No sign of germination from the basil in the mini-greenhouse as yet. The pak choi are thriving (apart from some ominous snail/slug activity already), and I pricked out a few of the dill seedlings from their shallow tray.
I probably ought to empty out the largely-failed mustard and cress and use the windowsill space to start some more towel-tomatoes, since the outdoors ones haven't shown any signs of activity yet. (Though it has only been just over a fortnight, and temperatures haven't been that high, save for sporadic warm days like today...) What normally happens is that I panic and then end up with an embarrassment of tomato seedlings (April last year)!
