igenlode: The pirate sloop 'Horizon' from "Treasures of the Indies" (Default)

I think this is the first month for a long time for which I can say that every story on my fanfiction.net account has been viewed at least once. Of course, as I post more stories, the requirements become correspondingly higher...

Comparing this with my results from last time throws up a few interesting results: the stats for the "Downton Abbey" story have undergone a completely unrepresentative bulge this month (possibly because Gwen reappeared in an episode of the final series which has just been broadcast in the US, and there is very little other Gwen-fiction around for interested persons to read?)

Two years ago "Blue Remembered Hills" had obviously just been updated and "Count Philippe" was my newest fic. I'm not sure what other conclusions we can draw, except that I finally worked out why "Please Pretend" was getting such a disproportionate number of hits (it was the first story linked to at the top of my profile text), and that since I moved the link and acknowledgements to the end of that section it no longer benefits so greatly at the expense of my own stories!

My other translation, "Imprisoned by Fear", is doing well this month because again it has only just been updated. "A Child of the Law" is my latest story, published new this month, and immediately preceded by "Don Juan Rehearsed". This was a completely unexpected success on publication (eight reviews!) and has continued popular: I cannot imagine why a firmly C/R story starring Piangi of all people should have gone down so well among the fans :-p And I'm glad to see that "All the Rules Rearranged" continues to do consistently well almost a year after publication despite being in the very small "Love Never Dies" fandom -- I'm very fond of it myself -- but I have no real idea why! Of course, having more chapters helps; if people do read all the way through it, then more page hits get registered. But that doesn't help the many-chaptered "Water-horse", where a very high proportion of hits have always been first-page only :-(

Note that "success", in my case, is always relative: the most popular stories get eight to ten people in a given month reading all through and maybe fifty hits on an updated chapter. Still, it's a steady trickle, and information I'd never know about if I were dependent just on receiving reviews (since reviews on old chapters are like hens' teeth!)
