Winter clothing

Changeover time again.
The labour of carrying up half my wardrobe to be put away in trunks until the weather changes means that I always try to leave it as late as possible, but a quick flick back through the blog reveals that in fact I did it on the 21st of October in 2011, so I'm not so late as I thought I was. (I've been cheating for some weeks by sleeping with a hot-water-bottle, though, and I haven't been able to wear any of my summer clothing for a long time, so I've been feeling rather short of garments!)
Now I have a vast pile of warm winter clothes -- from bedsocks to thick jumpers to thermal longjohns -- heaped all over my bed, which will have to be put away before I can go to sleep tonight.
Yesterday I very carefully stripped off my sheets and put them in the wash as soon as I got up, so that they could have all day to dry in the sun. But then I left them out so long that they got dewed on, so I then had to wait for them to dry indoors before I could go to bed... at about three a.m.! The bottom sheet is getting very thin, even though it's poly-cotton. I've considered sides-to-middling it before it rips through, but as it is rather small anyway I'm afraid that reducing the width any further may not work. I might have to cut down an old double sheet instead.
