New flowers emerging

I assumed from the leaves that this was another Jacob's Ladder flower, but in fact it turns out to be a poached-egg plant -- now that I know, I can tell the difference in the foliage.



Apparently I have multiple different colours of Livingstone daisy in the packet; if I'd known, I might have been less ruthless about weeding out duplicates! But I really don't have room for more than a few plants of each, and luckily the survivors seem to cover a range of possibilities. This third colour is particularly striking.

It doesn't look in the least like a poached egg from my point of view, but it's got a yellow inside and white outsides...

I think I've got another batch coming that look rather like grass or oats: long thin stems with hanging flower heads. Having a mixed packet of unidentified small annuals is fascinating, but unfortunately I haven't been all that successful in identifying them; of course they tend not to be in my helpfully classfied 'identifying wildflowers' guide, and writers tend to assume you know what you planted in your own garden!
