My interaction with Star Trek has been mostly literary too, though in my case it included a school library with a full set of the Star Trek equivalent of the Doctor Who Target novels, so I have at least experienced most of the original-series episodes in some form. (The number of actual episodes I've actually watched, on the other hand, I could count on the fingers of the other hand.)
