igenlode: The pirate sloop 'Horizon' from "Treasures of the Indies" (Default)

I think I now have a workable set of prompts established. 'Entertainment' is either Lucien and Artamène having fun with Roland at the expense of their seniors' subterfuge over the duel (p268) (but that involves introducing the new characters, 'les jeunes' having hitherto gone unnamed) or else Roland's invitation to 'the banquet' (p269). 'Grief' is either Gaston de Trélan's reaction to learning of de Brencourt's deception (p292), his reaction to learning that he has to go to Finistère rather than Mirabel (p283)(but that's an extremely minor part of the plot) or else Artus de Brencourt's reaction to witnessing the reunion between husband and wife (p305) -- probably the latter, as that allows me to cover said reunion, which would otherwise be omitted.

'Penumbra' will have to be the outer edge of the shadow of death, I think, as I really can't see how else I can work the term in even metaphorically -- or how anyone else is supposed to do so! 'Juxtaposition' can be Gaston and Roland (p321 and/or p326). And 'Petal' is obviously going to be the yellow poppy itself on p329.

As for fitting the next fifteen prompts into the remaining hundred pages, including such endearing terms as 'Shenanigans' and 'Umbrella' (and even 'Herb' doesn't fit any too well -- a tisane from Suzon, perhaps?), I think it's probably doable, but it will take rather closer planning than I put into the first couple of hundred...
