The heritage marigolds (I think they are probably French marigolds rather than African, but I have never been quite sure) are bushing up nicely and just putting out their first buds, so by next week I should have some of those too. Lots of flowers -- and bees!

Last week I planted nasturtiums, rudbeckia, pak choi, more rocket, and more California poppies. The big sweet-pea seeds of the nasturtiums have definitely come up (and are just starting to open out leaves), the pak choi germinated with indecent speed (and confused me by looking exactly like rocket) and will definitely need to be thinned out pretty soon, one rocket seedling emerged and I think I now have another two coming, and I think the rudbeckia pot has some tiny red seed-necks showing. I'm not very convinced by the California poppies, which I obediently refrained from covering with soil this time round (I'm pretty sure I did cover the successful batch from last summer) and which are just lying out there in full sunshine. One of them may have split open and produced a root (most of them just look as if they are going mouldy). I have raked some soil over the other half in order to hedge my bets ;-p
