I've planted a few of my more precious/experimental seeds, since it's warm and spring seems definitely to have started. Yellow poppy (from the seed-heads that I managed to ripen last autumn rather than the originally-gathered seed), mesembryanthemum (ditto), and seed from the single Swan River daisy that came up pink instead of purple -- it will be interesting to see whether that genetic quirk reappears in the next generation. The odds are probably Mendelian...

The dill seed I sowed several weeks back is finally coming up; no sign of germination from the additional chives I scattered at the same time, although about half the original chives made it through the winter. A lot of self-sown corn-marigolds are growing, to the degree that I've hardened my heart and emptied out some of the pots with them in; the ones that overwintered as juvenile plants are now starting to flower.

The calendula that germinated last autumn, having continued to flower all through the winter(!), is now putting out multiple buds -- interestingly, the second calendula which also survived the winter is not thriving so well, although it is clearly going to flower at some point, and I wonder if the difference is because one of them was planted in a clear yoghurt pot and the other in an opaque one. Things do grow in clear plastic pots, but it's clearly not natural to have your roots exposed to light, and there is presumably a reason why commercial pots are always opaque...
