Cold round Cape Horn

I've been reading Basil Lubbock's "Round the Horn Before the Mast" (1902), and it's frankly not suitable reading for winter evenings, even wrapped up in a new Christmas scarf and two pairs of socks! If I hadn't already had a hot bath this morning I'd be tempted to have another one just to warm up...
