Another one bites the dust

And now author AMarguerite (henceforth known as 'deletedaccounttake2') has deleted all her 84 stories from fanfiction.net as of November last year: https://www.fanfiction.net/u/338114/AMarguerite

As I discovered when looking for her Temeraire/Les Miserables crossovers (e.g. Enjolras and his dragon Patria)....

I suppose people feel that they have grown out of fandom, but they were good stories and nothing to be ashamed of. (And in the case of the crossovers, pretty well unique.)

Life in Death is the one I had in my Rescue Raoul archive (in which everyone is characterised in terms of music):

He remembered Christine and Raoul on the rooftop, clinging to each other as if they'd suddenly found shelter in the midst of a hurricane. He remembered seeing Raoul stand in the audience, blue eyes alight with unnamable emotion as he watched Christine sing. He remembered the joy in her movements when she declared she sang for Raoul, the sudden happiness that infected her song and caused it to blossom. He remembered how Christine had locked herself away in the end, so she could stare vacantly at him, and smile vacantly at him, and allow him to kiss her forehead without a shudder.

With him she was empty, he realized, because he had needed everything. He took everything from her.

With Raoul, he admitted, she was full of happiness and joy and love, because Raoul gave them all to her without hope or expectation of return. He gave himself to her, for her use, and did not try to take anything from her because he was so busy giving her his love.

And Sunlight, Rings and The Happy Ending Stealers (all right, I can see why someone might be embarassed over that one :-p)

For what it's worth, at this writing AMarguerite is still active on AO3; the account there has not been deleted, and has new work as recently as last month.

That account has 89 works, including three Temeraire/Les Mis fusions, although not any Phantom fic or the Percy Weasley story. (And, I see, all of it except the most recent work is on the privacy setting where it's only visible to logged-in users.)

Ah, that would be why I could only see the Good Omens stuff...

Working my way through her tumblr, I also got the impression she might have been pulling stuff for publication -- a comment about "Pyeongchang and Prejudice" being removed from AO3, for instance (and perhaps hiding it behind user-only access is another way of placating publishers)

It's still sad, because the work is good. I love that one about Jean Prouvaire summoning Cthulu, for instance ("in which everyone ought to have taken Jehan more seriously").

Well, I spent about six hours ploughing through tumblr with repeated emulator crashes, and there's zero mention of fanfiction.net during that time period at all -- just various posts telling concerned anons that yes, all the Austen-fic is still on AO3 but they need to log in, and no mention as it why it was locked down. Plus a lot of brainstorming for an original novel and a Persuasion fanfic... and a mention of 'it was back when I was part of the Les Mis fandom', evidently now firmly in the past.
