It is also salutory to examine J.K Rowling's original Harry Potter synopsis (tiny teasing details such as platform nine and three quarters, versus complete elision of Diagon Alley and compression of his friendships with Ron/Hermione), and the 'what has gone before' synopsis provided at the start of "The Two Towers", in which everything up to the Council of Elrond is summarised in one sentence!
