What wonderful turns of phrase you use. This is just one of my favorite: the man who could gamble his wife in a New York bar for the sake of his own pride. I love the gambling language and all the references to PoTO.

That interaction with Meg is sublime. Putting the thought in her head, as she may have been on her way alone to kill herself. Fantastic. Poor, poor Meg, and poor Raoul!
