It wasn't worth it, which is why I'm not going to attempt to store this batch but simply eat them as soon as they're ready!
My attempts at 'bottling' tomato pulp under wax did work, though I don't know how well they would have lasted in the long term -- they were still good when I opened them that autumn after the tomato season had ended -- but I have an alternative supply of tinned tomatoes now, and about eight tins in the cupboard. I still don't use them as nearly such a 'staple' as I used to, so they last me a very long time; acquired habits die hard.
