So far as I remember it has a belated and very unsatisfactory sequel that munches up the characters and breaks off with nothing resolved, to the degree that the author actually apologised for keeping the readers hanging -- whether that was ever actually followed up I don't know, because I never came across a sequel-to-the-sequel and preferred to forget about it.
