No, I'm not posting as yet -- I'm superstitious about jinxing myself by uploading unfinished projects, which is how I've currently managed to land myself with *two* full-scale works in manuscript but almost zero uploads over the past couple of years :-(

The first chapter of this one did in fact get uploaded on FFnet back before I lost access to that site, due to the fact that it was entered for a forum challenge/contest with a deadline of November last year.

Which means that everything written in that chapter is now effectively fixed in stone from my perspective; I can't go back and edit it. The chapters in manuscript are still theoretically malleable -- and the business of railway travel to/from Beauvais, for example, really is going to need to be retconned at some point, I think. I'm not at all easy about it in my mind.

trying to weave in and out of an already established plot with a new POV or POVs, seems like an interesting project to undertake.

Frankly it's more of a tedious cliché in this fandom, because the trope of retelling the original story but with an added Original Female Character/self-insert taking part -- generally as an alternative romantic interest for the Phantom -- is so very common. I've done at least two retellings myself from different viewpoints (Count Philippe's perspective on the story was interesting to write) and wasn't planning to do another, because it's frankly limiting to have to hit the same predefined plot points over and over again instead of being at liberty to have the plot arise from your characters' actions. And I really wasn't planning to do an OFC insert; I just somehow hadn't associated the plot-disrupting potential of Raoul's being married with the introduction of a standard love-triangle scenario, which is what I seem to have ended up with :-(

(Probably because love-triangles in fanfic tend to centre around the Phantom, and Raoul doesn't normally get claimed by multiple females :-p)
